Eligibility Criteria for Laptop Sahay Yojana
To qualify for the scheme, students must meet the following requirements:
- The applicant must be a permanent resident of Gujarat.
- Only students belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC) category are eligible.
- A valid caste certificate is required.
- Age should be between 18 to 30 years.
- The applicant must have completed education up to the 12th standard.
- No family member of the applicant should be employed in a government job.
- The annual family income should not exceed Rs. 1,20,000 in rural areas and Rs. 1,50,000 in urban areas.
Benefits of the Laptop Sahay Yojana
- Financial assistance of up to Rs. 1,50,000 is provided for purchasing laptops or related devices.
- The beneficiary contributes 10% of the loan amount. For instance, if the laptop costs Rs. 40,000, the government provides Rs. 32,000 (80%), and the applicant pays Rs. 8,000 (20%).
- The Tribal Development Department offers this financial support to Scheduled Tribe students.
- The loan is repayable in 20 quarterly installments, inclusive of interest.
- If the applicant fails to repay on time, an additional penalty interest of 2% will be charged.
Features of the Laptop Assistance Scheme
- The loan is offered at an affordable interest rate of 6%.
- Repayment of the loan is structured into 60 monthly installments.
- In case of delayed payment, an extra 2.5% interest will be applied in addition to the 6% interest.
- The laptops come pre-installed with accounting, statistics, and GST software at no additional cost.
